Calligraphy for Beginners

. This workshop runs 4 consecutive Saturdays 9am-11am from 1/27 through 2-17


Calligraphy is a generic term that encompasses a wide range of hand-written letterform styles. Beginning with ancient writings on papyrus to contemporary typographic arts, calligraphy is the basis for such fonts as Times and other 'serif' styles, such as Garamond.
This workshop will provide an essential understanding of letter stroke, weight, spacing, as well as consistency in letter form.
Calligraphy is an excellent starting place for the student desiring to learn fundamental typography and the use of handwritten lettering to create illustrations and ornamentation. Enrolled students will be required to purchase a student-grade calligraphy pen and nib set for this workshop.

FEE: $140 for four, 2-hour session. Students are required to purchase their own pen and ink sets from their favorite retailers. SAMPLE LINK

This 4-week workshop is for ages 12 and up. A small calligraphy pen and ink kit will be required for this workshop.
4-week workshop begins Saturday, January 27th, 2018 - 9am-11am.
